One lonely star is in the sky today
In a small nook, isolated I say
One source of light amidst the nebulous surrounding
Shining brightly for all to see—but almost drowning
It’s one small speck pushed, tossed, bullied by darkness
But bright, resilient, strong, instilling great fondness
One solitary luminary to observe as I sat
Yet a confident assurance that all the universe is not black
One small star fills the sky this night
But its light—it shines so bright
ly
One small reminder of a lonely world out there
Yet a vivid picture of something different to which I’m heir
One star…less than two. From a teacher one is only “okay”
not excellent. But to find one on the beach makes for a happy day
One star…in a competition. The focus of attention, idol, a pleasantry,
The one everyone admires, respects, and hopes to be
But it’s lonely out there in the dark
If you’re the only one …it’s hard to keep your spark
Yet essential
The wind blows; the clouds begin to overwhelm
For a fleeting moment the star disappears –soon to be back at the helm
One small, seemingly insignificant star
But on this particular night the minutia makes all the difference
One bright shining star in a dark, dark world
Perhaps it is I around whom the life clouds swirl
Yet amidst the torment, that one star does shine
…a vivid reminder of One greater than I
The One who put every star in the sky
