I long to love you
but don’t know quite how
It seems the harder a try
the more damage it does
Drawing close to you
actually pushes you away
…slowly we are drifting apart.
I want to be closer to you
to share life’s moments each day
But instead we just coordinate
the daily business, each of us going our own way
This is not how it’s supposed to be
and yet I intend to stubbornly insist
On sticking with you,
on showing you how deeply I care
On loving you daily,
whether I feel like it or not
…until my love is so clear,
it draws us back together.
I long to love you
but it doesn’t seem to be working
at the moment, during this time.
But my faith is strong
I believe one day things will be better,
I hope I’m not wrong
One day, you will truly see
how much I long to love you.
