His Grace

His grace incredibly surreal,
Daily given, some days I feel
It so much more as I reflect
on life, my sin, cause to reject.
And yet, instead His arms extend
No matter what, one cannot bend
The love so mercifully abounding
From the Father—simply astounding!
Despite my awful sin, He continues to bless
Christ my penalty paid, charges no longer press.
Punishment fulfilled in undeserving Servant
That I might have life, be free and fervent,
In serving the One whose love perseveres.
The prayers of the unworthy He still hears,
Continually providing far beyond our merit,
Overflowing generosity, I scarce can bear it.
Why such goodness? Why such pardon?
Love on sinners poured; hard to fathom
Why me and my life? What does He see?
Disregarding my past, welcoming me?
Despite the terrible things I have done
He gives me life, through His Son
And blesses abundantly through it all,
Immense God—reaching out to the small
Undeserving sinners, in every place
His grace, helps us to run the race,
His grace, someday to see His face
His grace, to feel His warm embrace
Truly amazing grace…His grace!
